AP Review Resources

May 6th update:  the College Board asked me to share some stuff with you. I'm just going to paste exactly what they sent:

  • Share the 2020 AP Testing Guide (.pdf/10.37 MB) and watch the overview video. The comprehensive guide will help you walk your students through exam preparation, and the video gives a high-level overview of this year's exams.
  • Encourage your students to practice with the exam demo. You and your students now have access to an exam demo. Students should use the demo to practice the different ways to submit exam responses. World language students will be able to practice with the AP World Languages Exam App beginning the week of May 11.

Ok, old stuff:

The College Board announced on March 20th that exams will be shorter, cover less material, and be available to take from home. Please read their full statement here: AP Updates for Schools Affected by Coronavirus . Please note that they are allowing students to cancel with no penalty. But if you still want to take the test, you need to start reviewing.

The topics this year's test will cover are:
Kinematics
Dynamics (forces)
Circular Motion and Gravitation
Energy
Momentum
Simple Harmonic Motion
Torque and Rotational Motion

We have already covered all of these topics in class.

The topics that are usually covered in the test, but are NOT COVERED THIS YEAR are:
Electric Charge and Electric Force (haven't done in class yet)
DC Circuits (haven't done in class yet)
Mechanical Waves and Sound (the last unit we did)

On April 3rd, the College Board released more information, including test dates and format of the questions. That info is here. For the physics test, the date is May 14th at 1 PM Arizona time. There will be two Free Response questions. The first will be a Qualitative/Quantitative Translation (QQT) question and the second will be a Paragraph Argument Short Answer question. I have "assigned" two sets of of FRQ quizzes made of these types of questions in My AP Portal here: https://myap.collegeboard.org/login .If you do nothing else to prepare for the exam, do those.

I have also "assigned" progress checks to everyone in the My AP portal. These progress checks are not all the right format, but are good for more practice. You do not need to do all of these, but I wanted them to be available to you.

None of the things in the AP Portal are for a grade. They are completely voluntary.

In addition, below are some previously-released, not secured test questions plus their answers. These are also at https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-physics-1/exam/past-exam-questions , along with some sample answers (and the scores they received).
