Relative Velocity

Bellwork is was a small half-sheet called ESA Practice: Vector Components. We used it to review yesterday's material and to look at the Evaluating Student Answers category of question, which will show up repeatedly in the future. You did not turn in this little paper.

Later we talked about relative velocity. There aren't a lot of notes; here is what ended up on the board first period:

Mythbusters did a pretty cool experiment showing the forward velocity of a truck cancelling out the backward velocity of a cannonball so that the velocity of the cannonball relative to the ground was zero: Mythbusters Frame of Reference.

Section 3.5 in the textbook also talks about this, albeit with a lot more math than we used.

B.) p.82 #41 & 44

Please note that this means you will be turning in two different things tomorrow.

AP Review

The AP Physics 1 test is next Tuesday, May 2nd in the afternoon session. The alternative test is Thursday, May 18th in the afternoon session.

I have a complete practice test with solutions from the College Board for you to use, but it is a confidential test. You may come sit for it in my room, but none of the materials may leave the room and you cannot take pictures. I also have a couple of commercial prep books available for your use.

Please remember that you have a final lab due May 22nd and that I will be absent on May 18th and 19th. Please also continue to turn in late work, retake tests, and correct labs.

AP Test Review

PERIOD 1: You took your Electricity Test today!

EVERYONE ELSE: For the next two weeks we are reviewing for the AP test. If you are not taking the AP test, consider this review for your final, which will be cumulative and on Monday, 5/16 or Tuesday, 5/17.

I have a practice test for you to take, grade yourselves, and generally use to study. This practice test belongs to the College Board, so you cannot take it out of my room, take pictures, or in any way distribute it to anyone, at all. Seriously peoples. Don't get me in trouble.

I also have some old FRQs that have already been publicly released, so those you can take home.

Finally, the multiple choice from all of our tests were taken from previously released AP tests, so those would be a source of study material as well.

The AP Physics 1 test is Tuesday, May 3rd at noon.

All missing work is due Friday, April 29th.

AP Practice Problems

Today I was absent, so you worked on and self- or peer-graded practice AP free response problems. These are purely for your practice and experience and we did not turn them in for credit. I recommend keeping these (and any others we do throughout the year) and using them to study for the AP exam in May.

AP Practice Problems

Today we peer-graded the practice AP exam problems that we turned in just before and after fall break. The grade you will actually receive for these will be for participation only - some for doing the problems in the first place, some for grading other students' work. The point was to get experience with the problems and the way the points are allocated.

You were also given one more practice AP problem. This one is pretty difficult, and if you didn't finish it in class it is homework.
